Custom orthotics are made for your foot, with your activities and footwear in mind during the prescription process. Orthotics can be made from a variety of materials (firm or soft). We achieve best results by providing a slim, low profile, soft and comfortable orthotic insole, meaning you will wear them and get results faster.
Thick, bulky and hard orthotics are rarely prescribed because they are difficult to fit in shoes and the majority of patients won’t wear them.
Prefabricated orthotics and semi-custom devices are also available.
Your podiatrist will discuss which style and material is best for you.
You may be able to claim some or all of the cost of your orthotics through your private health fund extras coverage. Call and ask your health fund what your coverage limits are on customized orthotics and / or prefabricated devices.

We are a group of podiatry practices based in Victoria that have joined together to form The Victorian Podiatry Group. This amalgamation has made it possible to provide podiatry services in and around Melbourne. Our podiatrists treat a variety of ailments linked to feet, ankles, and lower limbs. The causes of foot, ankle, or lower limb pain can be as a result of incorrect alignment of the ankle to the knee, but corrections are possible with the aid of orthotics or insoles that fit inside your shoes.
If you are suffering from pain in your feet, ankles, legs, or knees, it could be caused by flat feet or high foot arches that place stress on other parts of your body. Foot orthotics are devices similar to shoe insoles but are tailored to your foot type, biomechanics, and lifestyle. They can help improve walking, running, and standing. The materials we use vary depending on your problem, severity, and your lifestyle.
Our team of Podiatrists is result-driven. We collaborate with our network of hea;th professionals to help all of our patients. . Our clinics are multidisciplinary, making it possible for X-rays or referrals to take place on site. We use the latest research and tools to provide the best treatment options.
The podiatrist will complete a physical exam of your feet and lower limbs to diagnose your issue. If you have already had X-rays taken, please bring them along, as well as the results from any scans or blood tests. Please bring the shoes you wear most often and any foot insoles you are currently using.
